Chris Corning

Olympic Snowboarder

How did you get involved in your favorite outdoor activity (snowboarding/skiing)?

My dad was always into snowboarding. We went when I was three for the first time. I was skiing at the time and when I was 7 I switched to snowboarding. We got into the sport and went all the time! As much as we could muster every week.

What has been your most memorable moment or achievement in your sport?

My most memorable achievement in snowboarding is probably getting to compete for the USA at the Olympics. My greatest accomplishment was probably winning my first World Cup at 15.

How does outdoor technology enhance your performance or experience in your sport?

Outdoor technology enhances me in snowboarding by proving quality audio technology to use while snowboarding and traveling. Being able to have a compact speaker with me for my hotel stays to competing in the biggest contest and needing headphones that I know will work in the cold weather.

What challenges have you faced in your sport, and how have you overcome them?

I think the biggest challenge I have faced in snowboarding is just to be able to keep doing it at the highest level. Thanks to companies like outdoor tech they share my passion which allows such a healthy partnership.

Can you share a personal goal or project you're currently working on within your sport?

A personal goal I have that I want to achieve in snowboarding is helping the young generation learn to be the best snowboarder they can be!

How did you get involved in your favorite outdoor activity (snowboarding/skiing)?

My parents showed me how much fun it is to be outdoors, what can be gained from nature and how to give back and care for it!

What has been your most memorable moment or achievement in your sport?

One of my biggest accomplishments so far has been to podium at Junior Worlds in Switzerland. My hard work and focus came together when I put down a run in front of an international crowd representing the US. Another recent accomplishment that I’m proud of was putting together a full ski video, working with athletes and professional filmers to create a unique and motivating film in the ski world.

How does outdoor technology enhance your performance or experience in
your sport?

Outdoor technology blends music and athleticism to allow me to get out of my headspace and create a new and productive mindset, flowing while skiing to the music.

What challenges have you faced in your sport, and how have you overcome them?

All the sports I enjoy doing have a mental aspect to them. The challenges I overcome are definitely the battle within my mind. I overcome these challenges by being prepared, comfortable on my skis, and in my environment, as well as challenging myself constantly even when it’s scary. I say to myself if I can see it, I can do it.

Can you share a personal goal or project you're currently working on within your sport?

I am currently working on qualifying and training for the 2026 Olympics in Italy for men’s free ski halfpipe. I am also working on putting out another video part that will be released this fall.

How did you get involved in your favorite outdoor activity (snowboarding/skiing)?

My dad got our family into cross country skate ski racing when I was in elementary school. One of the races was at a downhill ski resort and I rented alpine skis on the off day. After hitting a few jumps, it was all over and I quit cross country and started downhill skiing from there on out. I've also been snowboarding a handful of times per winter for about 5 years. It's so fun to feel the start of the learning curve with similar feelings to my early ski days.

What has been your most memorable moment or achievement in your sport?

The most rewarding moments have come from making videos with my childhood friends and making many new friends through the Line Traveling Circus Series over 17 seasons and counting. I can't pick one single moment, but younger me would never have dreamed it would be possible to come this far.

How does outdoor technology enhance your performance or experience in
your sport?

Music and electronics are a huge part of helping capture the moments we look back on for the rest of our lives. Whether it be charging up a phone or camera or listening to new songs to motivate for the day, Outdoor Tech Products keep the vibe alive and enhance the experience on the snow, surf and dirt.

What challenges have you faced in your sport, and how have you overcome them?

It's always just as much a mental game as a physical one. Using my experiences and the experience of others, I try to safely navigate learning new tricks and pushing myself out of my comfort zone. Learning is what keeps things fun and finding the safest way to learn is always my goal. Sometimes gravity has another plan for me, but learning how to fall is also a good practice.

Can you share a personal goal or project you're currently working on within your sport?

I'm striving to find a sustainable balance between all of the sports I enjoy while progressing in each slowly, but surely. In skiing, I'm hoping to improve my backcountry knowledge and all mountain riding. In snowboarding and surfing, I want to improve my fundamentals and learn simple tricks/turns with a smoother style. Biking and hiking I do purely for recreation and don't really care if I push any limits or learn anything new. They are just great ways to get outside.

Jeff Ashton

Professional Skier

Jeff Ashton's lifelong passion for skiing began at the tender age of three, thanks to his Uncle Troy, and it has flourished ever since. Highlighting his career, Jeff's victory in the X Games Real Ski Street 2016 stands out, marking a significant achievement for someone who primarily focuses on video parts rather than competitions. Music plays a crucial role in Jeff's skiing experience, with Outdoor Tech's Chips 3.0 enhancing his rides through deep powder by elevating the atmosphere and keeping him focused. Recently, challenging winter conditions have tested his adaptability, prompting him to enhance his creativity under less-than-ideal circumstances. Jeff is now shifting his focus towards producing more backcountry film content, exploring bigger lines and more exposed zones in British Columbia. Moving away from primarily resort and slackcountry terrain, he's excited to tackle terrain that pushes his limits and invigorates his adventurous spirit.

Jeff Ashton

Professional Skier

How did you get involved in your favorite outdoor activity (snowboarding/skiing)?

My Uncle Troy put me on skis at age 3 and I have been hooked ever since!

What has been your most memorable moment or achievement in your sport?

Contest wise it would have to be winning X Games Real Ski Street 2016. I was never much of a comp skier, but it was awesome to have the opportunity to create a video part for X Games and lucky enough to come out on top.

How does outdoor technology enhance your performance or experience in
your sport?

Having music really amplifies skiing for me. I ride with the chips 3.0 every day and they bring the vibe up dramatically! There’s nothing like cruising deep powder laps with a great soundtrack to keep me locked in!

What challenges have you faced in your sport, and how have you overcome them?

Had some very challenging winter conditions in recent years which has made it very difficult to film and shoot quality media content. I’ve learned to just take the conditions as they come and just boost the creativity with my posts and ski content when there is sub par conditions.

Can you share a personal goal or project you're currently working on within your sport?

I’m working more towards producing more backcountry film content. Trying to get out on the sleds into bigger lines and more exposed zones around BC. I’ve been primarily skiing resort and slackcountry terrain for most of my career so it’s cool to get into some terrain that scares me and put down some bigger lines!

Mike Gray

Professional Snowboarder

Mike Gray's snowboarding journey began in his early teens when he switched from skiing to follow his older brother into the exciting world of snowboarding. Drawn by the camaraderie and the allure of the mountains, what started as family outings transformed into a profound passion. Mike cherishes the deep powder days at his home resort, shared with friends and family, as his most memorable experiences. The role of Outdoor Tech in Mike's snowboarding career is significant, providing him with music that keeps him focused and enhances his performance on the slopes. Despite the challenges of staying healthy, depending on weather conditions, and frequent travels away from home, Mike remains upbeat, grateful for the joy and opportunities snowboarding has brought him. He is currently working on becoming the best version of himself, both on and off the board. His latest project involves a partnership with Kavu clothing, documenting a snowboarding trip from California to Washington that showcases the season's highlights.

Mike Gray

Professional Snowboarder

How did you get involved in your favorite outdoor activity (snowboarding/skiing)?

My parents were skiers, and I started skiing when I was a couple years old. I switched to snowboarding when I was around 13 because my older brother started snowboarding and it looked so much fun. It was a reason to get outside in the mountains with family and friends that ended up turning into a huge passion.

What has been your most memorable moment or achievement in your sport?

I would have to say still to this day my most memorable moments are the powder days with my friends and my brother back when I first started snowboarding. There is a lot of memorable trips and contests as well, but there is something about just a deep powder day at your home resort with all your friends that is hard to beat.

How does outdoor technology enhance your performance or experience in
your sport?

Outdoor technology enhances my performance and experience by putting the music in my ears makes me in the zone while I’m snowboarding. All of the other are great as well and make your daily life much easier.

What challenges have you faced in your sport, and how have you overcome them?

Snowboarding comes with plenty of challenges. Staying healthy, relying on weather, being away from home…. I just try to stay positive and remember that snowboarding is fun and I live a very fortunate life.

Can you share a personal goal or project you're currently working on within your sport?

My goal is to become the best version of myself possible on and off my snowboard. I’m working on a project with a new sponsor, Kavu clothing. It will be a story about a trip from California to Washington that took place this season, and the snowboarding that happened along the way.
