I like the 4.0, I’ve got a 2.0 (about the same size as the 4.0 but can’t be sinked with the newer version) I also have the big turtle, I’ve had it and the 2.0 for probably 10 years now and lve been bringing them to WE FEST a country music festival here in MN and connect the 2 via cords on the bar I’ve built for WE FEST. Looking forward to arranging the 4.0’s in the campsite this summer with out cords. Just wish the 4.0’s would be a little easier to connect the 4 together. . I’m contemplating on purchasing 2 more if you let me use the discount coupon along with the BOGO. Thanks for your product, Rob.
I had the 3.0 version since 2016 and it just recently died a few months ago with constant use. I saw how durable it was and decided to upgrade. Overall the sound quality is on par if not a little better in my opinion. It is a little too quiet at super low volume. But I highly recommend any of outdoor tech's items if your looking for something that will last for years. Hope this helped.
I owned the Big Turtle Shell (2014 or 2015) in grey which lasted for years. In 2017 I purchased the smaller one in red. Now I have two 4.0’s. I’ve always been happy with the ease of use, sound, longevity, and portability.
Customer service and warranty are great. I had one 4.0 that wouldn’t charge out of the box. Customer service/warranty was friendly, easy to work with, and received the replacement quickly!
Not a fan of black for an outdoor speaker but it is what it is.
Overall I like the features of the speaker. I like that it's waterproof, has threads for a mount, can connect to other Turtle speakers, and can charge other devices. However, as a speaker itself, there is almost zero low end (bass frequencies). It makes the music sound very thin. I still rate this a 3.0 out of 5.0 because of the other features, but a lot of the music I enjoy listening to just does not sound good with this speaker.

Speaker arrived very quick, great quality! Not the loudest in the market, but solid construction, clear audio, and great battery life! Excited for this summers rafting trips to put it through its paces! Had the Turtle shell 2.0, and have no doubt this one will last just as long (7 years on the old one)
This speaker is a great purchase. I've had a turtle shell 2.0 for years now. I wanted a smaller version of it to bring on my bachelor party for tunes at the house and on our river float trip. This speaker not only gets loud, but can handle the roughness of a river like a champ!!! It made it all the way through our trip, until we unfortunately left it on a golf course. 10/10 would recommend.
I first ordered the OG red turtle shell off air miles. I had it for 8 years before it finally fell out of my cab and I ran it over with the excavator. I purchased the smaller version for compatibility at work and it’s fantastic. I’d love to buy the flagship version for my home and travel. In terms of sound quality it’s got more treble and mid range then bass but considering it still sounds very rounded the passive sub saves so much battery. This will run two days at work before i have to charge and it’s great if i forget. Throw in the ability to charge my phone or pair with my friend who has one also is pretty cool
The original Turtle Shell is louder and has better volume and quality at the lower volumes vs the new 4.0. The 4.0 is too quiet at low levels and too loud at its highest. There is no middle ground.
Followed the instructions and got the first speaker paired to my phone. Then followed the instructions to get the other 3 speakers connected to each other. The I selected some of my favorite music and I had this incredible surround sound filling my room. The instructions made it pretty easy to get the speakers paired and connected to each other. Love the Turtle Shell speaker system. They are clear and nice and loud, I like loud. I also love that they are small in size and can pound out the tunes for their size. I recommend you try out the Turtle Shell 4.0 speaker system. I think you will love them too.
